Mastering the digital transformation and critically examining the future viability of our own business model again and again - and if in doubt, radically redesigning it: As a specialist and global market leader for precise temperature control, we at LAUDA see digitization as an opportunity for technological and organizational innovation. That's why we founded new.degree as LAUDA's Innovation Lab. Here, we drive forward ideas from our employees as well as technology and service innovations from startups and also our own initiatives in exciting search fields for future-oriented temperature control - and thus create innovative and inspiring temperature control solutions outside of LAUDA's existing business areas.
Who we are
Experts from various disciplines such as marketing strategists, innovation managers, computer scientists, engineers and material scientists work and research in California, USA and Lauda-Königshofen in Germany on ideas and projects and quickly develop them into Minimum Viable Products, i.e. initial, minimally functional solutions, through early and continuous personal dialog with customers and potential users. This is how solutions are created that meet needs through continuous user feedback and quickly find their place in the market.
Incubate Ideas
Involving employees and utilizing their wealth of experience and problem-solving skills - whether from LAUDA's internal idea management or through systematic analysis in search fields, such ideas come to us that transfer our temperature control competencies to potential products and solutions outside of our previous core business. And are put through their paces at new.degree. We look for problems that are worth solving and create ideas for them that create new, better solutions for users.
Grow Startups
At new.degree, we employ our own startup manager who supports startups in the pre-seed and seed phases as a facilitator, advisor and coordinator. With us, startups can pilot their own business idea with technology innovations from the temperature control environment or future technologies such as AI, 3D printing or quantum technology; we act as a research partner and are also open to an investment.
Lead Digital Transformation
Staying competitive is increasingly related to digitization processes in the company; they form the basis for new and innovative, data-driven business models. At new.degree, we strive for both: We form the central transformation unit and digitize LAUDA's processes, take care of digital interfaces to customers and suppliers, and thus lay the foundation for building new digital business models. We develop digital products, complement existing products with digital services, and make our factories smart. Cross-functional teams are shaping the future of the company using New Work approaches.
